Did you know.....?


All passenger cars produced for the European market from 2012 are required to have a form of Tyre Pressure Monitoring System fitted (TPMS)

This can come in a couple of different forms - both of which alert the driver of a pressure irregularity occurring.

The first system is called DIRECT TPMS and uses sensors fitted within the tyre and wheel assembly at the base of the valve.

The cold weather is here, along with lots of rain, standing water and snow forecast this week in Sheffield.


Since we have had a relatively dry summer, the ground is hard and water cannot seep away so easily, so much so that there have been big puddles on the roads and a number of accidents where vehicles have aquaplaned.

What is Operation Focus?

Operation Focus is an initiative by the Roads Policing Unit, now part of the Joint Specialist Operations (Uniformed).

When South Yorkshire Police receive a report of a stolen motor vehicle we seek permission from the keeper to publish the details on Social Media and on local Radio stations.

We need YOUR help to find these vehicles and arrest the offenders and this is one tactic we are using to help.

Preparing your vehicle for winter driving

Keeping your vehicle well maintained is important all year round, but doubly so in winter. For example, worn tyres won't hold the road in wet conditions as well as those with with a good, deep tread.

Make sure all exterior lights are working correctly and that windscreen wiper blades are in good condition. Check the oil, coolant and washer fluid levels. And, don't leave home on that long trip over lonely country roads without enough fuel for the journey.
